Wallaceburg Baldoon Paddle Event is being introduced in celebration of Wallaceburg's 150th Anniversary, recognizing the critical importance of the waterways. From the first settlers arriving along the St Clair River and travelling down the waterways, through the Snye and into the Sydenham, the path was critical in the determination of the location and start of the town of Wallaceburg.
Wallaceburg was designated as a hub for international freighters harvesting the plentiful supply of oak trees that were loaded onto ocean freighters and transported to England.
Two routes have been designated to allow all paddlers and paddle craft the opportunity to experience the unique paddling opportunities of the area.
Route 1: Pro Paddle Route
A 20 km route starting in the St Clair River, at Brander Park in Port Lambton, Ontario, travelling south along the St Clair River, into the Snye River, travelling southeast along the Snye, into the Sydenham River and finishing at the Glasstown Brewing Company in downtown Wallaceburg.
Estimated Route time: 2 hours
Route 2: Recreation Paddle Route
A 4 km route starting within the town of Wallaceburg, at Crothers Park, entering into the Sydenham north branch, travelling south into the Sydenham west branch and finishing at the Glasstown Brewing Company in downtown Wallaceburg. To complete to 4K route, you must paddle back to Crothers Park.
Estimated Route time: 1 hour
